And then again, sometimes the wrapping is even more interesting.
So, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

So, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night.

Saturday, on our way back from our 4:30 AM walk, Barb and I spotted a garage sale sign for "baby stuff". It was a block from our house, so on the way back from the grocery store (later) we stopped. I made my first "baby" purchase...a "jogger". I'm not sure if we can really get our soon-to-be grandbaby up at 4:30 in the morning to go for a walk...but maybe next spring! We also called Sarah about the sale...she scored big time. She checks the internet for "new prices" on things she'll need, so knows what's a good deal.
This morning on the way back from my walk (Barb slept in...good for her.), I checked in on our other baby. Momma and Poppa eagle are almost always together now, on the "fishing perch" over the lake. The "little one" was out of the nest and sitting on a branch. I have a feeling that it's just a matter of days before it really trys it's wings.

The first strawberry of the season! I guess it's time to put the chicken wire over the patch. Squirrels and rabbits don't really need them as much as we do. Some did make it into the freezer last year (Strawberries, not squirrels and rabbits.) and made wonderful shortcake late this winter. And I find this, just after I bought a box of them at Cub (Again, strawberries, not squirrels and rabbits...We have plenty of them.)
This last semester I designed and built six 3-foot long, parabolic solar collectors [link] for labs in a Physics course on Renewable Energy Resources. I had some scrap parts left (You can't just throw "good stuff" away!), so I built a hot dog cooker. I've been waiting for a nice sunny day to try it. Today was the day! From the refrigerator to 151.5 ºF in 15 minutes. Anticipation...whets the appetite.
One of the pair of eagles nesting in the top of a cottonwood near our house. This is on the approach end of 12R for the Airport, next to the intersection of Cedar Ave. (Hwy 77) and Hwy 62, and by a busy restaurant (5-8 Club). All that activity doesn't seem the phase them a bit. But the local crows seem to delight in harrying them. Last week, we saw the two of them together fishing, on the east side of Lake Nokomis. Now I only see one off the nest at a time. Eggs???
